DIVERSITY STRENGTHENS US

Every language contains knowledge no other language can replace

Language is more than just words. It's a distinct way of understanding the world, carrying memory, and transmitting information.

The earliest known written record of any language in Southeast Asia is in Cham. Its written tradition stretches back more than sixteen centuries, connecting today's Cham communities to an extraordinary cultural and intellectual inheritance. Yet today, Cham is endangered, with intergenerational transmission and opportunities for sustained use under growing pressure.

The Cham Language Institute was founded to change that.

Virtual Instruction

Learning Cham should not end at childhood

Cham is still learned primarily informally through family and community. For many learners, instruction ends early in life, and there is no dependable path back into structured learning as an adult.
